I create this effect by carefully handfolding the pages of a book to an accuracy of about a third of a millimetre. I don't cut, glue, tear or harm the pages in anyway, and I fold using only my hands - no machines or fancy equipment is involved with my art.
This "Kneeling Soldier" may be at the grave of a fallen comrade. Rifle in hand and helmet lowered in silent reverence, he may still be on the front line. Who knows.
Pieces like this really take on a life of their own, and I can't help but feel a *shudder* as I finish and see the image in its entirety. Brave men and women, many of whom may have struck this pose, made it possible for me to be here today, sat in my own home, comfortably at my own desk, drinking tea, and indulging in my passion. Makes you think, doesn't it?
